Curious to find out all of your opinion's about the authenticity of these tanks and the batte of Kursk, if at all possible. Dont be shy please reply . 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1mFwE4MAN0 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_7HNqdEWwo 3) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsnCKE3S8nI The direct translation of this mini-series is " Liberation " I own this mini-series and am a fan, I would also recomend this highly. Although I am not sure if there is a subtitle version.
Actually this was a mini-series done in the 60's I believe. Supposedly most of the German tanks used in the mini-series were captured German ones.
Cool, I've watched those videos on you-tube several times and always wondered who put them together, I assume you have taken extracts of the mini-series? It is an excellent series of extracts though subtitles would be a great improvement.
Yes.....though im sure that there is more of them. The mini series starts at battle of Kursk and ends at the Battle of Berlin.
there wasnt too much talking in alot of these so subtitles werent really needed, but just to know what few words they say...
Those definatly aren't tigers in part three. The turret is too square, there seems to be no mantlet, nor coaxial mg. I don't know what they are, but they are no tigers.
Seem to be mostly converted t34's & a few 55's? Looks like the ones used in closer shots may have had the tracks modified, interestingly there do appear to be one or 2 authentic German halftracks in there. There is, as far as we know, only one running Tiger in the world (Bovington, UK) though there seems to be news emerging of one other with potential for restoration in the former soviet bloc. Cheers, Adam.
yep, definitely not authentic tigers... even the ones in saving private ryan looked better. But that's understandable, since very few tigers survived ww2
After going back to the books, I can see that the main difference is the track wheels. the are not overlapping and the tracks are also different. Not real ones but to me eyes (old ones) they look pretty good. I would call them hundred footers.
Just about to post the exact same thing PzJgr. Interesting footage though. I thought they were clips from Cross of Iron at first.
Ah, great minds think alike. And mentioning the greatest movie (or one of) is just icing on the cake.
