Welcome to the forums Gerald. I think the GAP is the largest event on the eastcoast. The only problem with an event that big not only do you get alot of good units, but you also get alot of farby ones.Doc what is the turn out of reenactors for Neoga like? Usually every january my unit goes to leaf river, but each year less and less GIs show up. Last year ony 12 of them and there were 40 germans. The event is cancelled this year and I doubt they'll have it again.

Last year there were at least 30 GIs. Of course as is common with GIs, they were all "special". The FSSF, 101 Airborne, 2nd Rangers, 5th Rangers, etc. We were the only Frggn infantry unit there as the 99th. Plus we were also one of the few allied units there to have been in the bulge. We normally do the 9th division, but switch for authenticity. There was also a British para unit we saw from a distance, if I remember right, but that's right around when we surrendered and were executed! They did change the rules about that this year, but we'll see how the results are. I think it's a similar roster but with a few more GI units.

I can't stand all the elite units. When we formed the unit I'm a part of we thought about going as regular infantry, but since we have an armored half track and other vehicles that regular infantry didn't have we went as the 25th panzergrenadier div.

Oh come on, give them a break, I mean it just makes it more fun when you muller them. What I mean is that I remember a while ago when another chap and i were moveing through a wood seperated from the others, we were moving slowley and noticed 3 men standing talking, 2 paras and a fusileer, we crept up on them and then the two of us blasted them with a K98 and an MP40 from nice and close, got all of them, wouldent have been quite as much fun had they all been ordinary tommys.

Stefan its good to hear from you again. How are things going? Were you the one with the mp40? I guess special units are ok,in moderation. [IMG]

    Gerald Duval-
When are you arriving? I am going there on Wednesday. Perhaps we can meet up and chat for a few?

As my screen name implies, the unit I am in portrays the 9th Waffen SS Panzer Division Hohenstaufen. Come look us up and ask for Ron.

Hi, I am indeed back,in moderation. I am afraid I am not getting much time to look at the forum really. On the bright side I did actually have an MP40 for one event, great fun, when it worked, though actually when it started jamming and I had to go get it fixed I did come back and find myself standing behind a bunch of paras preparing to ambush some grenadiers. You should have seen their faces. Anyhow now I am going back to using a K98 because I dont like the MP40, too unreliable and ammo costs a bomb. Anyhow, I still have an MP41, deactivated of course. I got promoted a while ago, now I am a sturmmann. I am currently organising a training weekend in summer at our recently aquired battle site, we have a load of farm land including a WW2 bunker (it was an anti aircraft site), an excellent area for battles and training. I am organising it all now, should be fun. If anyone is interested in attending a good WW2 re-enactment let me know, there are some excellent ones this summer, not specifically waffen SS for those of you who are opposed to that kinda thing. Other than that I am doing fine and I hope you are all well too.
    All the best,
    Stefan

Hey panzergrenadiere - you show up in Neoga? If so, I was the only medic there. I had a blast, and my canteen froze. I couldn't stand the other GI impressions, though. Well, most of them. We were the 4 guys that looked like Bill Mauldin characters. In fact, I think that was the longest my beard has ever been.

Sadly, I missed the event. I decided to stay home and study for my finals in school. I might be going to ft. Custer in February. Whats the next event you plan on attending?
