I was wondering if anyone had any info on the HQ Battery of the 102nd Field Artillery Battalion attached to the 26th Infantry Div? My granddad was a part of this and I have a lot of info already but you guys are so knowledgeable I figured I would ask! :D

Here's a photo of Cpl George Burtman of the 102nd FA. I don't know anything else about him.

    They served their country

    I'll keep looking around.

Hey Kid: My Dad was in the H.Q. Btry, 2nd BN 102nd F.A. 26 Division YD. What is your Granddads name? You can find his enlistment here. http://files.usgwarchives.net/ma/essex/military/ww2/enlistment/armyenli215gmt.txt. I just started collecting history on the 102nd FA from Salem - Lawrence -Area. Please share information to Connie Sherlock "at" Hotmail "dot" com.

    4/25/2013 update:

Thank You TD-Tommy 776: Pardon my delay in getting back in touch. I had a death in the family and got side tracked with work. Yes, Dad was William F. Sherlock from Lawrence Ma. His wife, mom passed on March 1, 2013.

To the poster seeking information on his GrandDad in the 102nd FA, YD WW2. I now have digitized my Dads Military Unit photo of HQ Btry, 2nd BN. 102nd F.A. 26th Division YD. It was taken a Camp Edwards Falmouth Mass 1941. (I likely lived in those same billets on the weekends during my National Guard Duty with the 126 Signal BN out of Quincy Mass...years later.) The original is in very good condition and the digitized version is of exceptional quality. I am very pleased with the digital version. I recommed everyone to get thier WW1 and WW2 photos professional scanned, properly photo shopped, printed on 100 year paper and framed with UV protected glass. expensive but well worth it.

I have photos from state-side deployment with a few names from his unit. If the kid comes back..hopefully he will tell us who his granddad is.

I have marked this thread to be followed.

That's a useful resource, Cornelius. Thanks for posting it. I hope you will continue to share what you have found on the 102nd FA. It may help future visitors to the Forum. By the way, I presume your father was William from Lawrence, MA?

(Also, I modified your email address so you don't get "spammed" to death.)

It may be better to upload the photo to a image hosting website like Photobucket, ImageShack, Picasa, etc. and then post the link to it here. That's the best way to get past the 500kb limit on posting images. I look forward to seeing the photo!

That's a great photo, mangocat. I look forward to seeing the other half. With the 3 photos at the bottom, it almost looks like it might be from a yearbook or unit history book. Possibly pre-War? Does the photo look like it might have originally been in a book? There does appear to be a crease on the right side of the picture.
