    I don't think I put this out...my Uncle was with the 179th regiment WW2....final HQ was hitler's apartment in Munich....he spoke some German and was sort of a translator.......brought home a boatload of souvenirs, for which I am very grateful!..... any information would be much aprreciated

    they were a regiment of the 45th...yes, I saw that....thanks for the site.....I guess I knew in the back of my mind, he was in WW2...but we went out to eat with him just before he died [ he was still in great shape, just like my dad ] but I never really asked him about the war...if I had known then about all those souvenirs, I would not let him go, till he told me everything.!
