184th engineering combat battalion

    Just curious if anyone knew anything about the 184th Engineering Combat Battalion? Was there a specific division they served with/attached to? Any chance they were part of one of the Armored Divisions? I've googled until my head is spinning!

    Commanded by Major M. Killin on V-E Day, the "184th Engineer Combat Battalion (Colored)" was activated at Camp Maxey, TX, October 15, 1943. Departing the New York Port of Embarkation on October 30, 1944, the 184th Arrived in Great Britain, November 10, 1944. Arriving in France December 31, 1944, the unit's Campaign Credits are:

    Rhineland Sept. 15, 1944-Mar. 21, 1945
    Ardennes-Alsace Dec. 16, 1944-Jan. 15, 1945
    Central Europe Mar. 22-May 8, 1945

    Assigned at various times to First or Ninth Armies, the 184th was attached to the 1110th or 1142nd Engineer Combat Groups.
