Just a quick post to alert everyone to a new re-enactment unit that has been formed:

    43 (Royal Marine) Commando
    www.geocities.com/ProjectRemembrance/43RMCOMMANDO.html

We are currently a charter member unit of the U.S. Veteran's Remembrance Association (USVRA) in Houston, Texas and an affiliate of the Military Museum of Texas (MMT), also located in Houston. Though the organization (and the unit are quite new) we anticipate taking part in various events around the state with other organizations, and eventually, putting together our own events, with the eventual inclusion of Yugoslav Partisan (reenactors) as well as Balkan Theatre German units (SS Mountain, SS, Wehrmacht) since Forty Three saw action on many of the islands in the Adriatic. Our objective is to represent a late-war RM Commando impression in Italy (c.1944-1945).

We've had a relatively stress-free time finding insignia, uniformity and weaponry (real and repro); we are however, in need of a source for Bergen rucksacks for an upcoming DDAY event in Louisiana (September 2006) if anyone out there has any sources.

    All the best.

    LEST WE FORGET.
