    Hello all

I have just starting to look into my Granddad service history.

All we know he was the 2nd Wave of hamilcars to land at pegasus bridge June 1944. He was 1 of 3 to land that day.

I have no service number so i need to find that first I'm sure.

Can anybody point me in the right direction.

    May thanks in advance

    Rachel

    Hi Rachel

Do you know what unit he was in within the Division? Units have war diaries that, in short, give a day to day account of what the unit was doing. If you don't know for sure you should order a copy of his service records from the MoD. They cost £30 but will list all of his units and when he was with them.

    Cheers

    Pass!!

we understand he moved around a lot!! I have been put in the right direction into getting the right forms to request this information.

Are ww2 war diaries readily available from Kew like ww1 are??

    Cheers
