I thought I'd show you some pictures of our local village fair. These are some samples of the items that were for sale . Lots of WW2 and WWI items ! This is not a militaria fair but a village garage sale.

Prices on the M-42 Helmets? I assume they were rather spendy or else this thread would be titled : "Hey Look at my new helmets!!!!", and what on earth is the clay colored bakelite canister ?

The German helmets were shells with no liners in fact and the prices cheap. Why didn't I buy them ? well because I was the seller, this was my own display ( that's why you can't see the seller..

The gas canister is just a regular metal one with grey blue cammo, the clayish aspect is nothing but rust.

EDIT: second thought : could the item you call bakelite clay color canister be my Konserven Krug? This is a great WWI clay container with excellent DRGM markings. Thse can still be found on battlefield and often in perfect condition. I have the 0.5, 1 and 1.5 liter versions.

That is indeed what I was calling the bakelite container.
PM me a price for one of the M-42 shells.

I will Brad, nothing to write home about though, but I will send you details.

Let's start a little game now: most items visible here are German and French, but can someone spot at least two British and and two U.S. militaria objets on the pictures I already listed of the fair?

Good grief, please tell me you got the German Helmets. I would have bought the whole batch of them including the what looks to be a GI lid ;-))

Rats. Anyway, the Ami stuff are: Helmet and Ammo Can?

Taking a shot in the dark on the British stuff--possibly the helmet behind the American Helm as well as maybe a Water Bottle/canteen??

Thats the best my tired eyes can do.

Would you believe this was a family outing for most people and many did not even turn their heads to cast a glance. Some looked at the Adrians and mentionned the "fireman" helmets or the "Pickle Haube"....... It's better to be a buyer than a seller in those village fairs. I made some dough though, but selling junk like glasses and plates for a few cents a piece.

Hey Skipper, you were selling all that?....you must have a large surplus of helmets! ....thinning out the collection?

....for the british items - the khaki waterbottle in pic 2, and the SRD jug in pic 3, also is that a bren pouch in pic 2 (in front of french canteen)

I spy: a US canteen with cover, a US M1 helmet liner, a British Canteen and a British mess tin....I think.

Nope, the canteen with cover is German, the liner is a French bread bag : the U.S item is much bigger and the British one is WWI .

Glad you made some money-and more importantly-more room for reaping in more historical stuff ;-))
