Hi all. I mentioned my interest in my grandfather's cousin in my new member post, but would like to reiterate it here with more information. I have a record from Ancestry-WWII Prisoners of War-that has him interred at Shinjuku, area 35-140. He was a cook and a survivor of the Bataan Death march. The report dates listed are May 7, 1942 and November 21, 1945. It also says he was in the Coast Artillery Corps or Army Mine Planter Service (AMP). Not sure what he was in-I just know he was a cook and stole food from the Japanese. Aaron Carol Drake was known as "Oran" to family and friends. He was born on December 24, 1918 in Lyra, Palo Pinto, TX and died February 4, 1993, in Albuquerque, Bernalillo, NM. He was very close to my grandfather, Eddie Glen Brannan, though they were almost twenty years apart in age. Oran's family lived in West TX as well as NM, and in later years lived out in the Fresno, CA area. I would love to find an obituary for Oran, but I've stumbled across nothing. I would also love to find something more on his military service, but have also run into a brick wall there.
I replied to your other thread, but here is a link to NARA that might help. NARA - AAD - Display Full Records - World War II Prisoners of War Data File, 12/7/1941 - 11/19/1946
