1. Your Name: Mark or M.E.E. your choice. I'm not conceited M.E.E. is my initials 2. Age:34 3. Origins: Currently in the only place in Canada that doesn't freeze 6 months of the year Victoria. 4. Specifics: I'm primarily interested in WWII German and Canadian Red cross. Here are a bunch of men and women risking their lives everyday to save others hoping a little red cross will keep them from being shot... 5. Hobbies: I read alot and thanks to this site I have picked up several good books. Thought it would be well enough time to sign up and say hi. Also interested in WWII strategy games both electronic and table top 6. Other: Have strong interest in most history but WWII is the main study right now. 7. Miscellaneous: I have been interested in military history for most of my life. My Grandfather was a tail gunner in a Lancaster with the RCAF, his other 3 brothers were in the artillery, naval and infantry cores. Grew up in a small town so the Legion was the center of the whole town.. that in the bar but they often turned out to be the same place (if you grew up in small town Canada you know what I mean). My grandfather encouraged all his grand children to study and read about the war, remember those who fought (all sides) and remember what people did to make the world a better place. I think I got my first WWII medal when I was 10 at a pawn shop, (it was later stolen) but I had been bit. Anyways good to meet new people, thanks to many of you for good books to read and glad to be here. Mark
Mark, Currently in Denver, where I can't feel my legs! Welcome to the forums, no matter where you are in the world, there are plenty of warm folk here at ww2f to keep you going As you will soon find out, there is a prestigious line of Canadians who roam these parts... out of curiousity, which books did you find interesting?? all the best, Mark aka Jem
Welcome aboard, Mark. Still another Canadian, eh? I'm sure you'll find much to keep you interested. Post often.
Thanks for the welcome. I read With Hitler to the End, and am currently reading Speer's biography.. both are interesting to see through the eyes of these very prominent people but had to read both books with grains of salt. I also didn't even know about Nuclear Dawn and I think I might have to track it down, along with a long list of Eastern Front books that are listed. Mark
