I was wondering if anyone here was familiar with the movie: Kapo? It is a Foreign made film about Female inmates in a Concentration Camp. I THINK it is a Czech made film, I don't know the names of any of the actors in it but-the part of the movie I caught held me rivited to the chair and screen. The movie was filmed in B&W and I think sometime in the 1950s? The movie was very well made and very gritty and sexploitive for its time.

Here's a Spanish Language site that has English dubbed and/or subtitled copies

    KAPO DVD on DVDGO.com

According to the IMDB.com (Internet Movie Data Base), the movie stars Susan Strasbourg and was nominated for 2 Academy Awards.

    Looks interesting.

You could probably also look for a suibtitled Italian original, Gillo Pontecorvo was not an amateur, though less well known outside Italy than his more or less contemporaries Fellini and Rossellini. As he was both jew and a communist party cardholder I very much doubt making a "sexploitive " movie was his intent though he was even less likely to follow the Holliwood taboos ;).

Thanks to you all for what you found on it. It most certainly is a movie worth watching and getting if possible? Heh heh, I used Sexploitative because about all I had the chance to see of this fine film well, showed women off pretty provocatively ;-)) I can practically guarentee that you will like it if you get a chance to see it? TCM is good for showing stuff like this and was where I was able to catch what little of it I did see ;-)) Im checking into those sites and possibly see if I cna get a copy of it? If not there? I might ask a friend of mine to see if he can get a copy that the UCLA Film Archives might have on hand? as he is a lifetime member of their association.
