I recently learned that Americann GIs used to come to the small town (BALDHAM) where I live and play baseball with teams from around the Munich area in the years just after the end of WW2.

Would anyone remember this, and or have any photos from the gatherings?

It would be a great contribution to an ever growing collections of momentos from the beginnings of Baldham which is now a part of VATERSTETTEN. Vaterstetten is a town fo 23,000 just 22 KMs from downtown Munich.

    Thanks for you feedback.

Hey hey, another one from our nice and wonderful piece of the world! The GI´s brought some nice sports with them. Around my town (90 km in the south of Munich) we do have a American football team. My Dad remembers that the GI´s ,which where stationed at the Kaufbeuren Airfield, played the Baseball at there too. He said that he didn´t understood it as a child, but it was funny to see them running and jumping at that squared field. And at least he always get some chewing gum when he stayed to the end of the game and clapped his hands.
