Apologies for the language, but I can't think of any other description- Swimmers drive disabled Iraq war veterans out of pool - in case their appearance scares children | the Daily Mail It's fast turning into the British version of the post-Vietnam BS.
Unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable. I never thought I'd say this, but I do hope the gutter press does what it does so well and tracks these foul women down so we can all have a good look. Cheers, Adam.
Yep. Thats it. Time for the dictatorship. Ps-As long as the Royals stay. At least Charlie respects the sevicemen.
If I was in that pool, I would cheer the Veterans, then knock out whoever was trying to turf them out, weather it is man, woman or child!
Feck off you swine (Sorry Folks I had to say that) How dare they say that, these soldiers have fought for this country they don't need these stuck up too face toss pots to come out saying that sort of thing. If I had my way I would have them shoved in to stocks for a month and put them to shame the selfish swine. I am ashamed of this kind of person they make me sick to my stomach.
If I were the veterans I'd sue their arses for racism and discrimination (including the swimming pool director) because that's exactly what it is. This would not have happened a generation ago and shows how ungrateful people can be.... I hope the local people will support the veterans and make a scandal too.
Skipper has a point, if these people were Chinese or African-Americans and were asked to leave the pool, lawsuits would be flying. So a Vet with a missing arm is going to traumatize little Jr.? Maybe those parents should check some of the video games their kids are playing. You know, where killing and maiming is "just" on TV.
I cannot understand people who try to "protect" their children from "life." Bad things happen, including death and keeping children away from them does the child no good. Besides the total lack of gratitude for what these men (and their families) have endured this is beyond rediculous on so many levels.
Guys, guys, guys, you're doing it all wrong! Go to the original post, follow the link and add your own commentary to the paper! I'm using Skipper's post as if it were mine, pardon the plagiarism.
Good idea Portagee, but how likely are they going to care about what this ol' South Alabama country boy has to say on the subject?
I've been thinking about what I'd say to my kids; "They're broken soldiers chaps, bombs and stuff, they need to swim so they can get better quicker, that's why they've got their own section. Now get in." Surely that's what anyone who wasn't freakishly perverse about the state of the world would say?? I'd be more likely to suspect the plastic bubble of 'reality' television, squeamishness, fashion, & 'buy our cleaning products or your kids will die' style advertising for creating the kind of offensively stupid and self-obsessed fool that would behave in the way these people did to another human being. That, and being particularly dim/unpleasant in the first place. Then again, there's always been stupidity and insensitivity in the world. I've found myself genuinely disturbed about this ever since Gordon posted it. I think people have been a little circumspect about damaged soldiery from contemporary conflicts since time immemorial, 'Tommy this' etc., even an element of fear combined with the complete inability to imagine the circumstances that made them so. And ostracism by virtue of a mangled or unusual appearance is hardly new, but this seems to be in an entirely different and wholly offensive class. More details if anyone comes across any please. Cheers, Adam.
I followed the link and could read many comments supporting the vets and complaining about the bigots, so I feel a bit better now, although I still don't understand how stupid some people can be. I hope they get at least to apologise for this.
I don't see the problem with maimed people. I grew up seeing (and still see) maimed people. There are dangerous jobs about. I remember that at one factory, missing limbs was almost a sign of nobility. As for the Hags who abused the veterans. I feel sorry for them. There is something fundamentally wrong with them. What's worse is that I am left with a feeling that the issue of scaring kids is a lie. The selfish t*ats just wanted the pool for themselves.
Screw the bitches! Pick them up from the pool and drop them where those ServiceMEN won their Badges of Honour, to see if they like it!
Allowing C.N.N. to stay on the air and letting them preach their anti-Iraq War, Anti-Military and Anti Gov't messages as they do almost 24 hours a day.
