    Are you sure of 4th.armd.Div?
We (the British) had no 4th.Div.We did have a 4th.Armd.Brigade,served in
Middle East with Eighth Army and in North west Europe with 21st.Army
Group. Brigade sign was,"A jerboa (desert rat) in black on white square
    background.
British Divisions were,Guards Armoured, badge was the "Seeing Eye" as used in WW1.
1st.Armd. White Rhino on Black background".rhino changed from static to
charging.Renewed in 1947 before leaving Italy for Palestine.
2Armd.Knights Helmet in White on Red , disbanded in 1941.
6th. Armd. White "Mailed Clenched Gauntlet" on Black.Tunisia 42/43.
Italy 45.Renumbered in July 46 to 1st.Armd.(replacing Rhino)
    7th.Armd.Desert Rats.Red Rat on Black.(see Library)
8th.Armd.Raised in England in 1940.Embarked Middle East in 42.Did not go into action as complete Div.one brigade took part in hard fought with-
drawel to El Alamein.Badge was traffic -light signal,"GO" in black on green circle on black square.Div. broken up soon after.
9th.Armd.Div.formed in UK 1941.Badge was "Black and White Panda Head"Disbanded in 44, most personel joined 21st.Army Group.(13/18Hussars formed 27th.Armd.Bgd. in DD shermans on D Day)
    10th.Armd Div.formed Palestine 41,mainley from 1st.Cavalry Div.
Badge was a fox's mask in Red on Black(or Yellow) circle.Part of 8th.Army
    at Alamein thrugh to Tunis.
11th.Armd.Div.formed 41, badge was charging "Black Bull with yellow horns, eyes and hooves on yellow oblong background.Landed D Day and fought through to the Baltic. ( Divisional Commander. Mag.Gen."Pip Roberts, atank man and tankmans soldier! THE BEST, bar none!)
42nd.Armd Div.Formed 41 disbanded 43.Badge equal sided white diamond within a larger red diamond.
79th.Armd.Div. (The Funnies)Bulls Head, with black and white markings, brown nostrils and red tipped horns on yellow background set on inverted triangle to form "V" for victory.(This Div could form subject on its own)
(THe questioner did not mean the American 4th.Armored I hope)

    4th.AB

Hello Dave, if you can find out which regiment I can probably help.
Do you know where your relative was KIA? in the desert or in Europe.?
Any idea of which Military Cemetary he is intered in?
If you wish to send me private message feel free to do so.
I know they were in NW Europe as part of 21st Army Group.
