It's just a gaming site. But since I used a historical division I want to make sure all my ranks etc. are right. Thanks Fellas, http://www.greendevils.bravehost.com/
Green Devils, the Red Devils...sheesh, you know what? At least the Canadian Red Patch Devils where nicknamed by the enemy, not their allies! For reference it is from the Invasion of Sicily of the 1st RCA Division. They fought so relentlessly for every objective that the German soldiers of the Herman Goring Panzer Division nicknamed them the Red Patched Devils because of the red patch that was behind their beret cookie cutter.
Boy, you sure are generous with the rank given to your company commanders! Most German companies in a typical unit had a Lieutant or maybe a Haumptmann as commander with one or two Feldwebels in the XO and staff NCO positions. The Germans firmly believed in the idea that it was better to be short handed on leadership or use junior leaders to what the job really called for than put an unqualified person in. An Obrest would command at least a regiment and by 1944 often was XO or CO of a division.
oops, I should have said that it wasn't just the 1st RCA Division that invaded Sicily...the Americans and British may have helped some... (j/k!!!, they where the main driving forces).
