Hello everyone, I decided to open a new topic where I'm going to keep you informed on my research on the adopted soldiers of myself and friends. I'm trying to figger out some things so if anyone could help me it would be great ! First question: In sgt Kurt Franzman IDPF (got the copy) the cause of death is stated as C 010-149 Is there anyone who can clear this for me ? I know sgt Franzman has been hit by a 88 mm shell while riding on a tank in the vicinty of Schwel Germany on april 13th 1945 Which armored unit was in this region at the time ? Further there is a Battle Casualty Report in the IDPF for 18th september 1944 with following discriptions: Place of casualty : C9 Type of casualty : RTD Has anyone got a clue ?
Checking this AAR: http://cgsc.contentdm.oclc.org/utils/getfile/collection/p4013coll8/id/3602/filename/3612.pdf, it indicates that the 740th Tk Bn was with the 8th ID on April 13th, 45. The attack on Schwelm was made on the 14th as the unit moved from towns a few miles to the east. This report has lots of good information in it. Type of casualty: RTD = Returned to Duty That's all I can help with!
NEW QUESTION I'm looking for the after action reports on the 8th Inf Division 28 Inf Regiment on august 1944 till april 1945, anyone could a clue if these are availbe online or where I can get these /?
I found this pdf that records the daily reports of the medical detachment of the 8th Infantry Division. It includes information on the 28th Infantry Regiment. Hope it helps. http://www.fatherswar.com/8thinfdiv...edical%20Unit%208th%20Infantry%20Division.pdf You might also look here for information on the 28th. After Action Report - 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, 18 Nov. - 30 November 1944 Both of these only deal with November 1944, but it's a start.
Thanks LRusso216, I also found these, I'll keep looking. Sgt Franzmann was also wounded in august, trying to figger out where.
