I personally get annoyed when I see people at events wearing great vintage uniforms...and them smoking ciggies from a modern package, eating crisps, drinking coke from a can...I dispair when I see people who put a lot of money and effort into their uniform...but then have long hair...talk about computers...dont know drill from dance...

Do you agree that details make or break an impression or am I being silly?

Speaking as someone who has no connection with re-enactment, I firmly believe that details are vitally important, if for no other reason than as a mark of respect to 'those who were there'.

I help to restore a WWII aircraft - our team strives to reproduce every tiny detail with absolute authenticity.

Myself and my unit are obsessed with details. I have a period haircut and am crazy about every detail of my gear. We eat period food in the field and try to speak german as much as possible. I think the little things are the most important

i agree with you marloe to some extent, certainly about the haircut !!!!, but are you talking about eating crips, smoking cigs on display or just anytime?

Thats true, but you then make it difficult fot The Klingon guys and that worm thing they eat. Still I suppose it cannot be any worse than a 60 odd year old tin of spam...
