Well, last year was truly fantastic, this year looks to be as good if not better. For those of you who don't know Detling is a multi period living history event with groups representing eras from the stoneage up until the first Gulf War. It runs from the 27th-29th August (I had my birthday there last year) and is a fantastic show with such fantastic displays as sealed knot ECW battles, a huge variety of armoured vehicles, an Eastern Front battle and more stalls than you can shake a stick at.

From a re-enactment point of view it is even better than Beltring because, whilst there aren't as many stalls, re-enactors spend time on their displays rather than shopping.

So, if anyone is planning on being there lets be having you. Might even catch me asleep on my display again this year ;)

I don't know that I can make it that weekend, Stefan - but I see that an original and restored Jagdpanther is due to appear there.

So I hear, and it looks like I'll be part of a team fighting it off, oh dear!

Shame you can't make it Martin, let me know if things change though, I'd be happy to share a drop of vodka with you :D
