This is all speculation, I admit, and thus I only want to know opinions or any possible clues to continue the thread! To my knowledge they never did, but this is an interesting aspect and worth a discussion. I am reading Edvard Radzinski´s "Stalin" and it has a part on that. ......... According to the book it might have happened on 16th to 18th October 1939 in Lwow. The writer mentions that Stalin was in Kreml on 16th and 17th but away on 18th. 18th was Thursday.Stalin was away on 19th as well but returned 8.25 pm on 19th to Kreml and started to work and received guests. The writer claims that Stalin was workaholic and only two things could keep him away from Kreml, disease or travel. Also the visitor list on 17th was interesting, as almost the whole Red Army command visited, and later on Molotov stayed for along time. After Stalin retuned, on 19th at 8.25 pm, he immediately talked with Molotov for an hour and a half.During this time as well Zukov and No 3 man in Russia Lazar Kaganovits visited Stalin. There´s also a reference to a document by J.Edgar Hoover on 17th July 1940, where it is said that he would have received confidential information that Hitler and Stalin had met on 17th ocotber in Lwow. And that Stalin would have told everything they discussed to the Politburoo´s seven members on 28th October 1939. ------------ That would be a quite interesting view Stalin and Hitler talking to each other... But like said, nothing´s been proved!
They never met. 17-10-1939: Hitler is in Berlin, meeting with Raeder and receiving the "U-47-hero" Prien and signing Order No. 7 Cheers,
Oh-hoh...that probably is it...But anyway, trying desperately to keep th thread alive, just before Zitadelle von Manstein was sent to Bucharest to give the Golden Crimea shield to Marshall Antonescu, and the German radio made a big story of this, but von Manstein returned immediately to the front after this...
From what I have read and looked up on the internet--I have not seen nor read anything on Hitler ever meeting uncle joe--face to face. The best time would have been just after the conquest of Poland--but ive never seen nor heard anything to the effect of them meeting. HA--an interesting thought~~~ Wouldnt that have been a coup that if they did meet--that after the meeting with Der Fuhrer--that uncle joe was kiddnapped? Possible good "What if?"
On the contrary Hitler may have held animus towards Stalin but Stalin respected Hitler he told his own daughter Svetlana '...together we could have ruled the world!' and he meant it.
i have a question... didn't stalin's urge to destroy the jewish and polish lead to an alliance between them?
