A recent storm has caused a disaster in Mansfield, Ohio. The Shawshank Redemption tree has had a large brance crack and fall off do the storm. A really sad day for all lovers of this great movie.

Mansfield is a special place for me. My Grand Uncle Richard Max Kline, a WWII Seabee who shipped over to the Pacific on the USS Bootes with the 36th NCB (still checking on this) and went into Okinawa (this we know for sure) on Day 1, lived there. After the war he went to work for the Ohio State Correctional system at the Mansfield Reformatory. It is considered to be haunted these days and tours are given regularly.

My Uncle was a good man and I often wonder what went through his mind patrolling those cell blocks (some of them 6 tiers high) and how his memories of WWII molded with the prison surroundings. He was a good old farm boy outta Glenmont, Ohio. Do not blink or you miss this village in Amish Country. I have a picture of him with all of his brothers. Probably one of my most treasured gifts. Thanks for all of your service Max. RIP. We miss you buddy.
