so now you know who ... Klaus Märtens was a doctor in the German army during WW2. In 1947 he went into business using discarded rubber from Luftwaffe airfields. The first Dr. Martens boots in the UK came out in 1960 in the Northamptonshire area. Popular among postmen, policemen and factory workers, then later with skinheads and punks. In 2003 Dr. Martens production moved to China and Thailand but in 2007, the company began producing The "Vintage" line made to the original specs in the Cobbs Lane Factory in Wollaston.
very interesting, I did not know that.. about Doc Martens. see, learn something new everyday! Just leave it to Ray to point that out,
I have been wearing them ever since I was a teen and I still wear them them to work on a daily basis, including the ones with the yellow stiches. I remember wearing the steeltoes ones years ago . I had them long before they wer epoular and stil lwear them now that they are not fashionable . They are just solid and very comfortable. I still order them in the UK wher ethey are less expensive and I have no surprises beause I know my size .
the best comfortable boots and shoe for industry that I used to wear, especially great for long walks too, none better skipper...
