I know this is the World War II forum. But a member gave me lead to World War I forum for several relatives I was researching. I need to know if there is Civil War Forum recommended by any members. I am researching several relatives who fought in Civil War. Thanks for any help. I have googled sites but none seem appropriate for questions I have. dg
While I disparage of recommending the History forum, as it has deteriorated over the past few years. And now under the new format has very few of its old posters or reference pages. But, that said you might try them for leads. Goto: http://community.history.com/directory And scroll down to Armed Conflicts, American Civil War. Good luck!
Documents relating to the USN from founding to the end of World War I. Pass that along if you find one, please.
Civil War Soldiers and Sailor System This would be a good place to start. You can search names online. They have 6.3 million names online. Good Luck!
Please don't remind the Southern members of this forum that the South lost the War of Northern Agression. The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC) Dave
Thanks to everyone for replies and sites. I have signed up for Civil War Talk. I also have posted message on Kentucky in the Civil War Message Board. The particular relatives enlisted in Ky. . I did check Civil War Soldiers and Sailors but my relative's name not found. However, he is listed in Ninth Kentucky Calvary prepared by Col. Richard T. Jacob. I am also investigating joining the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. dg
