I was quite happy and surpised to find this programme at a fleamarket this morning. It's about the 1918 Thanksgiving cellebration that was organised for the Americans in France , a few days after the allied victory. It took place in the Cathedral of Le mans .

It was huge ! 10.000 attended, including Major General Edwin F. Glenn , Commander of the 83rd U.S. Division+ his staff. The choir with U.S. milary was composed of 1000 men. There were many French and British guesst too, including generals, to which one should add eclesiastic and civilian authorities. All 3 national anthems were sung. The icing on the top was the cathedral organ .

Imagine the power of a 500 year old organ with 4800 pipes.

Thanks Gordon, luckily for me, not many people around here speak Shakespeare's language , even fewer knew about the presence of the 83rd U.S. Div of the AEF in LE MANS in 1918 , so it was a cinch finding this beauty in a file.
