Finding Ex-Nazi Information

What is the procedure or policies if I wanted to find out about members that served in the war? I recently found out that my bosses uncle was a member of the SS, and ended up living in Toronto until he died. He said he used to have his full SS uniform until his sister went to clean out the apartment after he died.
