Little back ground info: this young guy was kin to my wife, guess it would have been a great uncle I think, either way were the last of the family and I am the only one that cared enough to save these things from being thrown out with the trash.I have all his records from training camp to his death. He died in germany on a bombing mission on christmas eve 1944, his mother was notified december 24 1945, he had been missing for over a year. His comander wrote his mother after she had been notified and gave her the details of what happen and its a very touching letter which I will post later. He was a radio gunner on a b-26, you might have to save these to your computer to read it so you can enlarge it but this best i can do when scanning them. Let me know what you think, Might send these to a museum as I think they would like it. heres a couple more of his training heres the letter his mom recieved of what happen, How it written and the words is amazing.
Its maybe smart to put all your 3 threads together as one next time... Or put in some more information in the other 2 threads. And maybe post some bigger pictures? I can't read this.........
Righteous, Thanks for posting these and it is great you made the effort to save them. I merged your posts with the documents. It will be easier for people to see them this way. Did I spell his name correctly? It looked like Arthur J. Milton to me. If not, let us know and we can change the thread title. I did a similar thing with my wife's grandfather. We were cleaning out his house after he died and I noticed a paper bag pull of old newspapers. In it was newspapers from the war, letters he sent home and the telegram he sent, telling his family he was coming home. I was flabbergasted that they would throw this away. Needless to say, I saved it all.
His last name is Hilton ", sorry bout the treads but didn't kmow if i could post that many pics in one at the same time, as for them being hard to read you might have to save them to you computer then enlarge them , I got bigger versions of them but they run 1 to 3 mb per pic if i make it where ya read them lol
Otto, could you change the thread title to Hilton? Try posting them to Photobucket and then copy and paste from there to here.
