This is my first post so please bear with me. I am impressed by the amount of knowledge you guys show. I was arrogant enough to think I might be able to educate some of the membership. Well that was a mistake. You guys are good and I know I can learn a lot from this sight and members. So for my question . My son-in-laws last name is Wenzel. He had a great or great great Uncle that flew with Richthofen. This much I know. Is there any one that could add more to his uncles biography during the war. We would both greatly appreciate any information. Thank you and now back to enjoying this sight. This sight is going to make my old age much more enjoyable.
This is a link to a painting of Lt Wenzel's plane, as flown in von Richthofen's squadron Jagdgeschwader 1: http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/downloads/fokker dr1 (wenzel)_Xz6.jpg There's also this thread at another forum about a JG1 reunion in 1933: Wenzel is identified on a picture in it. http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/people/48841-jg1-richthofen-meeting-1933-a.html I'm no expert on WW1 aces, but a Lt Paul Wenzel - who I assume is the man we're looking at - achieved ace status and went on to command Jasta 6.
Damn Vitesse you are good. I Thank you, my son-in-law thanks you. Could you or anyone direct me or give me any information on Wenzls Flying record. Like How many Air Victories or when he was serving with the Flying Circus. Again thank you for the link. You guys are good. I certainly is a humbling experience being associated with a forum like this. The type of humbling I appreciate.
