Guys here is a reconditioned Fw 190D-9 in the area of Gatow where II./JG 301 was based or at least part of it. Hope they get it up and running. also for Bill as you asked me about some of the Luftwaffe pilots grave-sites. Go to MIA and see the marker and ribbons of a pilot of 2./JG 301 who flew an Fw 190A-9 in February 1945.... www.JG 301.com go to Fw 190D-9 and then to MIA, both boxes being on the left side. Burkhardt Otto's site needs a bit of work and I probably should offer my help if he will take it. ~E
well if I continue to list and chat about Luftwaffe stuff I am going to have to change my sig and avatar again to more on the lines of Luftie stuff ! oh well that isn't so bad. I wanted to inclide the pic/skin of my cousins Fw 190A-9 while he served in 5./JG 301. This is this Braziain chaps rendition although I've got a few other ideas on how it may have looked. There may have been no white second gruppe bar or it could also have been red. The rumpfbands could also have been reversed and the armaments could of been two mg 131's over the cowling and 4 2cm kanon in the wings.....well until I get photographic proof of some sort the ideas will continue.... http://www.acesrising.hpg.ig.combr/skins/westernfront/jg301/misburg/imagens/a9baer.jpg ~E
last time is the charm so they say.... let's try this one more time before I put a 2cm round through my PC. ~E
Erich - That is one fine fighting machine, that old "butcher bird". Thanks for posting the pic of it, and by the way, I attempted to access that url, you posted right away, but only came up with a "forbidden" page. Bill
Hey Bill ! ok let's try this a bit more clear.... www.JG301.com should help. It is only a single page with a few pics. Very surprising to me that the German web-master hasn't gotten hold of more material but he isn't a historian anyway which is sad as he thinks he is.... ~E
Hello Erich - That second link up worked out fine. Yes, I must agree, this fellow does not have a lot of material, but his German text I found quite interesting. Verbage of the germanic language always makes me take a second look at what I am reading. Sometimes one word runs for half a page! Anyway, I did enjoy looking at what he did have posted there. Thanks for the link up. Bill
