Hello All, I am new to this website, but I extremely need the help and expertise of those here. I need help finding the military service records of two individuals I have known, one of which has passed away (May 2015) and hopefully a photo of them in uniform. My information on these individuals is limited due to the fact it was/is emotionally painful for these individuals to speak of the war. I wish to create a display dedicated to these great men to place within my collection and make sure they are not forgotten. Here is the information I have: Friedrich Harder - Saw action in the Battle of Berlin -Was one of 3 in his battalion to survive -Captured by the Soviets; escaped 3 times (Recalls being fed meat crawling with worms); Made it back to Germany -Came to the United States in an unknown year -Still alive Heinz Mueller -Saw action in Sicily, Italy -Wounded by an American Grenade (He carried the fragments in his body for the rest of his life) -Captured and sent to a POW camp in Britain(?) -Came to the United States in an unknown year -Passed away in May 2015 Thank you so much in advance for any help you fantastic people may provide, I have heard great things about this forum
Here are some resources that you may try: Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) www.volksbund.de feldgrau.com I am not an expert on German military records, but these have recommended in previous research inquiries regarding German soldiers. If you know that either served in the Waffen SS, I seem to recall that some of those records are held at the NARA in College Park.
