Hi there, My names Mike ive been interested in the history of ww2 from a young age listening to my grandfathers war stories. My grandfather served in the Canadian medical corps and i have two great uncles ( i suppose is what they would be called) who were M.I.A RCAF fighter pilots one in africa and one over England. I live on vancouver island and am a 21 year old university student. I hope this site is as awesome a resource as it appears to be.
Hi Micus. Great to hear you are interested in the RCAF. A flyer from Port Alberny lays buried near my hometown.
Welcome aboard, Mike. You might want to do a Search for posts by macrusk. She has a great deal of information on Canadian involvement in WW2.
Welcome, Mike. I hope you will enjoy the Forum. As you can see there are an extensive number of posts. If you go to the Information Requests section there is a thread that contains numerous links to Canadian resources. There are several here on the Forum who are particularly well versed on Air Operations and may be able to help you with information regarding your great uncles, should you wish to share information about them. Do you know with whom your Grandfather served in the Medical Corps? I hope you will share his story. The Canadian medical corps were very important - and it is amazing the job they did in helping those who both went home and those who were fixed-up to return to the Front. My Dad was badly injured in England, but was successfully treated and able to fight in NW Europe.
