I am on a search for my grandfather's, USAAF PVT Dominic Tuminello (born 11/6/1915), journey in WWII and photos if possible. He enlisted 12/31/1942 in Mississippi. Our family had a house fire in the 70s and all but 2 photos and his discharge papers was lost. We have conflicting stories about his journey and specialty. From what we can see his original assignment was to the 502nd BG, 315 BW, and the 411 BS, however he isn't present in any of the photos we've seen of that squadron. At some point during his time with the 502nd he was sent as direct support on temp assignment to the 6th BS at Grand Island, NE to help the 313th BW. Also, strangely, his discharge papers show 39th BG, 62nd BS. Any help filling in the gaps of knowledge/info would be so appreciated. The one story the family agreed on was that he was a tail gunner, so that was good. Although, it appears from what I see that he was an (911) aircraft armorer? So much for relying on family facts. :). We are also perplexed that he remained a PVT on his discharge papers. Hmm....thinking there has to be a story there. :)

The only thing I've been able to turn up is his Army Serial Number 34613854, but you should already have that. If you would post a copy of his discharge papers and/or the photos, it may be helpful. There may be clues that some of our experts can interpret.
