For my birthday I got a militaria book from my girlfriend: The collector's guide to cloth third reich military headgear, written by Gary Wilkins. For everyone who is interested in caps this book is a must. It has so many crisp, colour pictures and the text is well written.
Hi my friend I wish i'd known it was your birthday--i'd sent you something. H-A-P-P-Y--B-I-R-T-H-D-A-Y-!-!-!-! V-O-L-K-B-E-R-T-!-!-!-!-!. And many many more If you remember the 4 pics I sent to you with the German soldiers being awarded there Ek2s in the field. Well--i'd award you with one myself if I could. Better than an ek2 is this:
Thanks Carl, I will proudly wear it Speaking about packages, there is one underway to you right now. I hope you like it. Tomorrow a new letter to Remy is going out.
Quite welcome & Thank you my friend and how are you two (Stevin & yourself) doing at your job? Also--I will have a surprise for you in email as soon as I can. I'm still awaiting an answer from this place and will let you know about them if they turn out to be another good place to spend money on German militaria at. I need to look around a bit to see what I can do for you as a tiny "surprise" b-day gift--hmmmm let me see..........
Thanks for asking, Carl. Volkbert had the good sense to leave the company. Me, they have to kick away. Which they are going to do; I will be laid off/made redundant sometime next year. Don't get me started about my job, that'll be something for the free fire zone. Anyway, this will be a great opportunity to start something new!
Sorry about that my friend. i have an idea--Texas can always use another good family--why don't you both pack up and move here? At least you wouldn't have to worry about tons of snow and freezing much in winter. Oh and you'd have a blast here--we have a big Barnes & Nobles bookstore here
Thanks, Carl. But I am not worried about it, really. I'll find something else. Can't keep a WW2 loony down! Chris and I have discussed moving to the States in the past. We might do it in the future. Right now Chris her career is going somewhere. I got quite a few vet contacts in Tx. And Lance Armstrong is from Austin. Congrats on him, Carl! He is one of the finest atlethes at this moment. ARGH...yes, your bookstores! THAT is one thing I miss here! We got some good stores here and we can order everything (on-line), but there is no substitute for going into a store and having all those gems at your disposal. [ 29. Well--as of now--your an honorary Texan heh heh--think of the 96 oz steaks you would get to try to eat. I did;nt know he was from here. We also have a few MoH vets here as well.
Thanks guys! Erich, I would LOVE to live somewhere with real nature around! The pics I have seen of your state are breathtaking. In Holland we don't have nature. Not like that. Everywhere you go you run in to people or things man-made. Carl, Thank you! Too much honor, I am afraid. I haven't done that much, if anything, for Texas. First thing Chris said was 'Texas? Their steaks are too big!'
Very true, Martin. It is great to be able to just jump in your car and drive within an hour to Arnhem or three hours to the Ardennes!! That is a perk I would not really want to miss out on.
Yeah but--what we have here as a much BETTER perk is hundreds of miles of smooth sandy beaches with thousands of scantily-clad beach beauties wearing the skimpiest of bikinis and they are all-over-the-place. Plus--you HAVE to try the Mexican food here as well as the Chinese food and the BBQ. Who can top this so far? and believe me--I haven't divulged everything yet. Oh and I almost forgot to mention--we also have H TERS here as well. [ 30. July 2003, 01:56 PM: Message edited by: C.Evans ]
Pah ! What are these things when you can spend all day trudging around muddy WWII battlefields, listening to the rain dripping from the trees as you revel in the historic atmosphere... Stevin ? Hello ? Helloo-oo-ooo ( echoes die away, cue roar of jet engines... )
Welllllllllllllllllllll we do have Civil War and War for texas Independance battlefields here--as well as the BEST fishing spots in Texas as well.
HAHAHA! Choices, choices! I must say, Carl, Texan cuisine will win over Dutch food any day. Traditional Dutch food is not something to get excited about. Thank God we have a lot of former-foreign fellow-Dutchmen here who brought their food with them, so we have a WIDE variety of foodstuffs (Incuulding Hooters, Carl! , which, of course, I have never visited) Fishing is no trouble here, as 1/3 of our country lies below sealevel. Enough water around. Different fish though. Yes....mountineering below sealevel is a bit of a challenge, Martin. Finally, Urgh, You mean a Walk The Battlefield Thread!? Like Sommecourst does?? I'll bring my camera...
