I'm Big X and I appreciate being able to join your very excellent forum. My interests concerning WWII are quite varied but I am particularly interested in the Great Escape and the Dambusters mission.

Big X -- Welcome! THis is a fine place and you will find much to read that will interest you. If you do a search for Dambusters, you will find a relatively recent thread that had a fair amount of activity.

    Cheers!

Welcome to the team Big X!

Now that you have joined, it's you duty to harass, confound, and confuse the enemy to the best of your ability. Do you think you can handle that? ;)

    Cheers!

Of course I can handle it since I am harassed, confounded and confused most of the time. Thanks for the welcome. This looks like a terrific place and research resource.

No enemy here though. Just good, stout lads and lassies.

Hi Big X. something tells me you haven't found the multiquote button yet. this will allow you to make multiple quotes in one posting. Appleton you say. I have a friend in Little Chute and know this area very well.

Found it Skip. Thanks and sorry about not using it before.

I live about 8 miles south of Little Chute on the northern shore of Lake Winnebago and my medical practice is in Appleton.

Greetings from the Antipodes Big X you'll find a wealth of info about WWII and in particular about 617 I myself am an avid researcher about that particular squadron as well as many other RAF postings for Australians 464Sqdn. 2TAF ect. There is a particular member whom i consider to be the font of all things Squadron X and i'm sure it wont take you long to find him, and find him most helpful you will.

You may like to have a look at a thread I started "Due Respects for Aussie Fliers" Please feel free to add ideas or corrections to either the original letter of the following story.
    Cheers

P.S If i'm not mistaken your Avtar is a photo of Bob Kellow is that correct?
