This forum was recomended by a fellow P51 enthusiest who suggested I might find someone here with specific knowledge of certain aircraft in the 'Sunsetter' squadrons on Iwo Jima. :ac_p51b:

Even if that endevor is unsuccesful, it looks to be a great place to learn more about 'the greatest generation', who have my undying respect and admiration.

Forgot to mention; I'm 63, USMC Nam vet 65-66. 4 Years in the Corps and 5 in the NG. My hobby is plastic modeling of WWII fighter planes. Favorite pastime; riding my Harley. Former NRA high power rifle competitor. Commercial pilot license with 1250 hours logged. Born in MI. but live in FL. since 1958.
My uncle was a Marine who served on Guadalcanal.

    Now can I be welcome?
