    I came across this forum today and immediately joined. I grew up as an army brat and cannot remember not being interested in anything military. When I was in the 4th or 5th grade, I read an abridged version of Guadalcanal Diary by Richard Tregaskis and have been interested in the Pacific theater ever since. My interest deepened with a visit to Pearl Harbor when I was 11. This site is a Godsend for me because I don't know anyone near me who has any interest in the war or history in general and, thus, I have no one to discuss it with.
