I'm 66 years old, born-again Christian, retired Post Office clerk ( 40 years service - 34 years on "window service" - retail sales ), currently Avis shuttle driver. I served 2 & 1/2 years with 1/504 ( took Grave & Nijmegen bridges when I was 2 months old ). I was deployed to Santo Domingo 3 May '65 ( Operation Power Pack ). 23 training jumps, no injuries. I'm north of Chattanooga, Tn. My father ( deceased ) served with A Co, 630th Tank Destroyer Battalion ( attached to 28th Division ) in WWII. He was wounded late in the war when his self-propelled gun was hit by a panzerfaust. He was on burial detail for about 2 years after the war ( active reserves ). I will post a question about Daddy's Ike jacket on "Militaria". I can't help but wonder how many WWII veterans are on this site. Many ? Hundreds ? Surely not thousands ?
Welcome to the forum. There are a few WW2 vets about. Their names are in blue. W. Marlowe and Fighter Pilot have posted most recently. Sapper also shows up on occasion.
Yes, welcome to the forum!! As Lou has pointed out any true-blue vets names are in blue and there really aren't too many of them posting here with much regularity. I'm afraid that FighterPilot may be having some health issues these days. Not sure, but I suspect it may be the reason his posts have slowed down. Again, welcome and happy posting.
