Dear Sir, Welcome to the Forum. I would be eager to learn the name of the ship that transported your family & you from The Philippines back to the USA after you were liberated in 1945. Also, the date & location you departed The Philippines as well as the date & location you arrived back in the USA. Respectfully, Richard V. Horrell
I and a group of others were interned in Sangley Point, Cavite (ex-US Naval Station) for five days after being sworned into the US Navy. I just turned nineteen then and single. We left the Port Area, Manila on the 16 of January 1955 aboard the USNS Gen. Barret and arrived in Frisco, February 2nd. I married a white girl from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and last year we just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. I became a US citizen in 1960, commissioned a warrant officer in 1967 and retired from the US Navy in 1976. My family and I have resided in San Diego, CA since 1963.
