Hello, I just joined the forum. I am originally from NEMO, I now live SEMO. I am a heavy WWII reader and researcher, I have a History degree, and a Historic Preservation degree with an emphasis in Archaeology and documents. I am also a former newspaper reporter. Now I am disabled, and I thought this would be a good place to gain more knowledge. My was a AAF Wac, stationed Washington DC at the ATC HQ at the National Airport. My father was career Navy from 1936 to 1956. MMC on destroyers and destroyer tenders. Primarily the USS Melville and USS Stribling. A lot of the rest of my family were infantrymen during the war. I have collected and researched WWII items for years. I enjoy reading and discussing WWII topics.

Welcome to the Forum, 15thusinfantry. Would you please tell us about your choice of Forum name? Since you mentioned you had family that served in the infantry, I would guess it is in reference to the unit in which one or more of them served.
Thank you all, Tommy, my uncle served in Co B 15th Infantry 3rd Div., from before Anzio to the end of the war. Another uncle, my dad's brother served in Co. E, 9th Inf. 2nd Div. in WWI. He lost an eye and was gassed. My dad's 1st cousin served in Co M 18th Inf. 1st Div. prewar until 1946. My mom's cousin served in the 5th Div. Another of her cousins served in an Inf. Regt. in the 36th Div. Another cousin was a B-17 pilot before PH, and flew in Korea and Nam. My great grandfather served in the 94th Ohio in the CW. He died in 1935, my mom was 14, and cared for him until his death. That's most of them. Although all of my relatives served in WWII except for my mom's brother older. He could not. Sorry to bore you. I love your war tributes, I wish I could make one. I really love the 37th, my favorite prewar or early war picture book is the 37th. Roger Young.
