Oh my, that is sad news. Not just Col. Potter, but Sgt. Friday's sidekick and many other great characters is gone, he was a great actor. I always loved his movie roles as well, one of my favorites was as the town marshal in the superb movie The Shootist. My condolences to his family and close friends.

I'm sorry to hear this. Harry Morgan was one of my favourite actors. I too remember him from Dragnet alongside Jack Webb in addition to Col Potter in MASH.

Harry Morgan also starred in "A Bell For Adano " based on John Hersey's book by the same name . My Dad's unit , 504th MP BN, CO A were the MP's inthis movie. Agreat movie if you get a chance to watch it and Morgan plays the MP. A nice copmparison to watch the transition of roles for him leading into MASHthirty years later . Wyo 333

I hate to admit I am old enough, but I also remember him from Dragnet. CAC got it right. He was the grandad I wish I had. :(

Yes, I remember Col. Potter well. I also enjoyed his westerns and comedies, but I really enjoyed The Shootist. "What I do on your grave won't pass for flowers."
    RIP, Harry Morgan.

I went over to the imdb site and had forgotten the great number of excellent movies he also played in, the list is impressive to say the least. When I see the title I recall his part in the flick. Don't forget that the Potter character was his second appearance on MASH, he was first cast as the slightly "bonkers" Maj. Gen. Bartford Hamilton Steele.

    Steele:"You're insubordinate!"
    Hawkeye:"Right!"
    Steele:"You're insolent!"
    Hawkeye:"Right! And you're nuts!"
