Hello, I'm Lucky_Louie! I am 20 year old "amateur historian", currently based in Norway, with a big interest in world war two and the cold war. In particular I am very interested in political ideology, and the ideas that has shaped the world for the last 100+ years, and the rise and fall of superpowers, dictators and ideologies. So, about 5 years ago I got my hands on "Stalingrad" by Antony Beevor, and since then I have started reading most of his books, as well as works by other historians and witnesses that lived through world war 2. I am currently struggling my way through "The Second World War" by Beevor, and I am really enjoying that book so far, even though there i a lot of information and detail to take in! I guess the main reason for me joining this forum would be that I want to learn more, and also discuss the different theatres, battles and events that took place during world war 2! As of other time periods I am very interested in the Napoleonic Wars, and like I said, also the Cold war. In particular the Vietnam War and the Cuban revolution. Looking forward to read and learn more! - Louie
Welcome...Enjoy yourself here...we are all pretty friendly..Very .Few arguments...mostly over politics...but as you seem to be aware...no politics no war...We like to keep the politics ww2 related...Although I share your sentiments. We do though discuss present politics but try to keep it in the mindset of ww2. We are all after all different with differing views. The mods will let a lot ride until it gets personal or silly. Beevor is a great author..Hastings who I dislike on a personal basis, has a good selection of books you should look at...some of which include the politics behind the story... Again Welcome...And enjoy.
Hello there Lucky ! Welcome. French Revolutionary Wars / Napoleonic Wars are great topics to research. I still read about them from time to time.
From one Lou to another, welcome. Enjoy your stay, we don't bite. Ask anything, and we'll do our best to answer.
