Hello. My grandfather spent 29 months in Europe during WW2. I came here with the intention to find someone interested in a 3rd armored division map i am looking to sell..but been reading around and there are some very interesting people i may wanna get to know. Some of you really know your stuff. My grandfather was my best friend and as i got older and inquired about his exploits during the war..found out he was in some serious business. He was in N. Africa, Sicily and 'pushed the boot' to northern Italy. Anyway...i will keep it short and troll around a bit. Take care..
Welcome aboard, and glad your taking the time to check us out. I am sure the forum would be interested in any stories you might have to tell about your grandfather.
Welcome Mike. I visited Hannibal many times before moving North. Saw Becky's House and 'talked' to Mr. Clemens on the street one day Could you post a picture of the map? We like pictures here and we also like Maps, especially originals.
Hi Mike. Glad you could join us. By all means, look around. I hope you enjoy what you find. Many of us have relatives who fought in Italy. Good luck, and happy hunting.
Thank you. My grandfather, Leonard Powell, was in the 2nd armored until after Sicily, where he then became a part of the 752nd tank batallion. Excuse the fuzzy details or spelling for i am on my phone here and cant see crap. Lol. Anyway, without looking for reference, i know he was under command of a Col. WOODBURY. He excjanged letters with him until mid-70's. I have a letter signed by Gen. Lucien Trescott describing why he and the rest of his unit earned the presidential unit citation. The campaigns in that fellows signature right above me were the same my grandfather fought in. I will post a pic of map when i figure it how. It was my grandfathers brothers...5 Stars to Victory..Task force lovelady.
