Hello everyone, I'm Dara and I'm very interested in the 101st Airborne during World War II. Even though I am mostly interested in that particular group, I love learning all that I can about World War II. I have started researching events in the Pacific and find many of our tactics jaw-dropping to say the least. I'm sure I'll have a chance to explain that thought later. Unfortunately, I feel like we didn't have any of this in the school that I went to (or I seriously wasn't paying attention). I should have probably taken history in college, but I went with the medical field (I'm a Surgical Technologist and a Medical Transcriptionist), which has taught me some very interesting things about wars and medical history. I'm not just interested in World War II. I am very much interested in the Vietnam war, the Civil War and the Korean War as well as ancient warfare. I hope to meet some interesting people here and learn from all of you.
Hi welcome to the forum, I am sure you will find lost of good info here this site has a wealth of information and lots of experts Hope you enjoy it
Howdy Dara and welcome to the forum. The 101st is an interesting topic and plenty of info out there. Good luck and enjoy your stay. Happy posting
Thanks for the welcome. The 101st is a large subject, but I'm ready to shove more info into this brain. Nice to meet you and see you on the boards.
Greetings form the Antipodes and i'm sure you'll have fun here there are some of the Best minds i have ever encountered on the subject of WWII here. By the way don't suppose you know much about the history of "Adolphine " AKA Methodone do you? Cheers
Greetings P. I don't know much about Dolophine/Methadone/Adolphine except that it was developed in Germany in the late 30's. If you gather more information, I'd love to know more.
Welome Dara, enjoy your stay here, and I'm sure it will be a long one Now excuse my curiosity, but what the heck does a Medical Transcriptionist do???
A medical transcriptionist transcribes medical records that the doctors dictate after a visit with a patient. I was better at surgical transcriptions because before being a transcriptionist, I had worked as a surgical technologist, which is the person that sets up the sterile field in the operating room and passes the instruments to the surgeons, among other duties. So, I knew the basic procedure of most surgical cases that I transcribed. I hope to one day go back to being a surgical technologist, but I would like to wait until my son graduates.
Welcome Dara! I know you'll enjoy this forum. Plenty of folks here with a great deal of insight and knowledge about WWII. - JR
Yes welcome, but back to the important bit...Im on sofa waiting for my op, hence the suddend availability of posts by me. The leg is being very patient as a patient, but 2nd toe left foot, all gone discoloured, no pain and movement fine, rather than bother the doc, they are busy with the flu and all....I hearby nominate you as forum medic on which you must liase with Airborne medic sometime, but in his absence, you about it round here then. The toe? what do you think, can I stay on the sofa, sorry in this fox hole and ignore it or should I change my woolen socks more often....Not trench foot is it doc???? Tell me Ill live...
I think you'll live, but I don't know how the toe will fare. You could get a pulmonary embolism when you stand up the next time, and that could kill you, but that's probably pretty rare, but we wouldn't want to rule it out, right? If your toe is discolored, has no pain and only a small amount of movement, I'm going to assume that it's swollen. Perhaps it's a sprain or a clean break. Either way, I would elevate it and make your way down to the docs if you can. If it is swollen, ice might help. It's a good thing I'm not your doctor, because I'd say amputate. lol Nice meeting you urgh!
