Hello. I am 48 years old, and have enjoyed studying all sorts of military history, but really like that history associated with World War II, especially the history of the European theater. I hope to not only learn from others here, but also be able to share some of what I have learned over the years if I am able. Big Easy
Hello Slipdigit. No, not based out of New Orleans. My title refers more so to my physical size, and disposition. I'm considered "Big" at 6' 4", 275 pounds, and most folks who know me consider me "Easy" to generally get along with. Thank you to all of you for the welcome. Big Easy
Welcome Big Easy. What specific aspects of the ETO are you most interested in? I look forward to your posts. Greg C.
Thank you Greg. It's rather hard for me to have a specific region or aspect of Europe to select as an initial choice that attracts my interest, as whether it be the early on campaigns of 1940 against Denmark/Norway, or France and the Low Countries with their ally, England and her empire, later on of course, Germany moving east against the Balkans in their support of their ally Italy and Italy's fiasco in the Balkans against Greece, ( and let's not forget, Italy's ill fated venture in to Egypt ), or even later of course, the "Battle of battles", the Eastern Front campaign against Russia. I enjoy studying it all. I would have to say however, that I do enjoy reading and fleshing out the Mediterranean Theater from both sides, Allied and Axis, and all the units involved whether they be air, land, or sea based, as Germany and her ( those remaining ) Italian allies gave probably the best attempt at a defensive struggle against the combined American and British/British Commonwealth forces opposing them of any defensive tactics used during the war against those forces pit against them. If not this then, a good second attempt for me is the air war over Europe from the 1942-45 period of time waged by the RAF and USAAF. Big Easy
