I got this from my nephew today, who picked it from Lord knows where...the kid collects odd things thus finds himself in odd places. Can anyone shed some light on it for me?

Hi Luke, two things. First-great catch my your Nephew. Secondly-yours is an early strike and is an excellent example. I wonder if yours has a makers mark on the ring for the ribbon? Im no expert on makers but can tell you the example you h ave is one made by a highly collected maker-such as Dreschler und Sohn-or C.E. Junker, of Assmann-Friedrich Orth, Friedrich Linden of Ludenscheid-or someone like that ;-)) And if you also got it for free-that all the much more better.

These go from between $55.00 - to - upwards to $100.00-depending on what deale site your looking at. I have 3-4 of these in my little collection of German stuff ;-)) None of mine are as nice as yours is.
