I'm helping a researcher who's catalogueing some old WW2 footage. Can you help identify the French Officers in this still? The voice over says, "Moscow. The British and French arrive to discuss collective security with the Russians."
That's pretty vague without any dates but I'd hazard they belong to the joint Fr-UK military mission in 1940 that proved ineffective prompting the Soviets to sign the Molotov-Ribbentropp pact. If this is the case I'm sure the heads of mission can be identified.
I do think they had several meetings on the matter in the late 1930´s (?) but here´s some info and names. http://www.ww2forums.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=000089 Or maybe someone can recognise the faces?
I think first of all we ought to take a crash course on French Képi grade identification No, he doesn't look like Gamelin, IMHO. Quite a few photos of French (and others!) officers here, but I can't recognise these two. I'll put this up in the France 1940 forum, I'm sure someone will know.
