My grandda died recently and have found his discharge papers i was hoping someone can help with some info He was in the RASC and his rank was DUR he spoke about ww2 and was in egypt, greece he also spoke about montgomery a lot he was also in an italian pow camp dont know dates etc also he was in holland where a family keep them safe, can anyone shed any light into what his rank was or anyother info thank you in advance it piece a few thing in our family history he alson got medals but we cant find where he put them thanks vonjar
Howdy vonjar and welcome to the forum. I did a quick search for the rank of DUR but found nothing at this time. I am not familiar with the ranks of the Royal Army Service Corps. I may thinking that the DUR could be a code for 'Discharge Upon Return' ...... but it is a wild guess because that would not make sense. Perhaps one of our British rogues would know. You could also try posting this on the www.ww2talk.com site. That is a predominately British site. Good luck. If he was in the RASC then DVR (Driver) would make sense my grandad was in the RASC and his rank was shown on his medals as DVR.
