My book requires my character to send letters to Hitler starting in 1934 after he becomes Chancellor/Fuhrer. What was his postal address and did it change through 1945?

He had a number of them, there was one in Munich which was the apartment were his neice Geli Rabul committed "suicide", there was of course the one at the Berghof, and he also had an apartment in Berlin near the Reich Chancellery. But I wouldn't have a clue what the PO boxes would have been.

I did find that in addition to his rented apartment on Prinzregenten Platz in Munich, when he moved to Berchtesgaden after his release from Landsburg Prison he stayed at the Pension Moritz, but when the place changed hands he became dis-satisfied with the service and move to his new "free time" retreat, which tended to be the hotel Deutsche Haus on Maximilian Strasse.

But what the addresses, or mailing numbers would be is beyond me.

I would think that all mail addressed to Hitler would be sent to a central address in the Chancellory, screened and then given to Hitler's secretary................and I believe when Bormann came into the picture, he screened everything. But sorry, don't know the mailing address though the physical address of the chancellory was 6 Voss strasse.

    Hello merpho,

Upon 1934 Hitler was Reichskanzler and was residing at the "White House" :D in Berlin termed Reichskanzlei. From 1938 onward he moved into the Neue Reichskanzlei designed by Speer.

    Alte (old) Reichskanzlei

    Alte Reichskanzlei
    Kanzlei Des Fuhrers Der N.S.D.A.P
    Wilhelmstraße 77
    Berlin

Neue (new) Reichskanzlei (Hitler from 1939 onward)

    Neue Reichskanzlei
    Kanzlei Des Fuhrers Der N.S.D.A.P
    Voßstraße 4
    Berlin W8

You might also try the Reichskanzlei Dienststelle Berchtesgaden also termed Kleine (small) Reichskanzlei.

    Kanzlei Des Fuhrers Der N.S.D.A.P

for english you might check on the below page
Envelope from Hitler's New Reichschancellory "Kanzlei  Des Fuhrers Der N.S.D.A.P." in Berlin

Here is a nice link to buildings which Hitler and his entourage kept for their personal use during the war years. Before and after pics in some cases.

I should have included the link to the Third Reich in Ruins table of contents page, it has some very informative sections.

I know this doesn't have much to do with the addresses, but I thought this would be a nice place to share a few of my pics from a stop in Munich a couple of weeks ago. This was Hitler's apartment and where his niece stayed and allegedly committed suicide. I got the address for the building from the "Third Reich in Ruins" site and actually put it in our TomTom and it took us right there. [IMG][/IMG]
