I was going through some of my Grandfather's things (he is deceased as of 1998) and came upon a very priceless, in my opinion, artifact that is equally impressive once you decipher the German writing. It very simply states: "In the name of the German people give me the guardian of the German Order eagle with sword." The Guide, (signed) Adolf Hitler

This is a genuine artifact that is surrounded by actual Nazi uniform patches. I am going to be replacing the matting and display but this is what it looks like right now.

As priceless as I think this is, I am eager to know what the actual value of an artifact like this is.

As I don't frequent this site very often, you can email me at rhino1981 at gmail.com

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hello Rhino,

I guess you´re looking for a way to find out whether the signature is all real or not. I was facing this problem with a Rommel autograph earlier and must say there is only one way to find out:

"Facsimile Hitler signatures were widely used on many documents. The best way to spot a facsimile is by the fact that on an original signature, where the pen strokes crossed over each other, there is a "layering" or "overlapping" exhibited by a darker portion on the ink line. Facsimiles have only one color tone."

    Greetings

    Hello rhinocurve,

I am not so familiar with German war medals and decorations during the Third Reich, but Stern zum Adlerorden mit Schwerter would also include a military deed, since this order was only awarded to civilian or political persons.

I find it hard to believe that Der Fuehrer would have signed a blank document for such a high decoration that was only awarded to foreigners. If the document itsself should not be a fake then the A.H. signature will most certainly be a stamp. It also does not mention which class, I, II, III, etc. AFAIK it also should say not only Der Fuehrer, but also "und Oberste Befehlshaber der Wehrmacht", or "der Fuehrer und Reichskanzler".

Certificates with a Hitler signature (stamped) run at around 20-500 Euro depending on the adressed Person. Real signatures run at 2000-3000 Euro.

    Regards
    Kruska

you need to check further as this is not a complete document, the recipients name of the award is not included, and although most of the softback insignia is Luftwaffe that doe not necessarily mean the awardee was from the German air force at whatever capacity he may have been "German eagle order with swords"
