Greetings everyone! Found my way here after seeing a link to the boards in the June/July issue of WWII Magazine and am excited to have found a home to discuss WWII and the Greatest Generation! I'm a middle school special education teacher, married to a wife that is a middle school US History teacher, and we are both history fanatics, especially WWII. I have a library of books I'm constantly reading and frequently find myself picking up a new WWII title when at B&N or Borders on a monthly basis. My wife's grandfather was a tailgunner on B-17s, B-24s, and B-29s, but he passed away in 1996 before we every got a chance to really sit down with him and try and record some of his history. He does have some copies of photos that were confiscated from a captured Japanese pilot during the war...aerial photos of the attack on Pearl. Someday I'll get them scanned and share them ... they are spectacular. One last thing about myself. I'm an aspiring author and one of the reasons I read so much WWII literature (fiction and non-fiction) is for research purposes. The hard part though, is that I'm my own worst critic. Whenever I start something I inevitably throw it out after a few pages. Oh well....maybe someday! Anyway, I'm very happy I found this site and look forward to reading and participating in these discussions.

Welcome to the Forum, Indianajdp. You are certainly in the right place as a love of history, particularly WWII is what drew most of us here. Enjoy.
Indiana -- Welcome! You will enjoy your time here. Learn much and contribute more! And keep writing. My wife kept throwing away the first few pages of everything she wrote. I finally pursuaded her to use her computer (but did not teach her how to delete files!). After 11 months, she just finished her first book! Cheers!
