Hello all-stumbled upon this forum after doing one of my many ancestry searches. I've been doing family research for a few years now, and still consider myself a bit of a novice. I've found that many of my ancestors and cousins served in the military. My name is Kellilyn O'Hara, though I usually go by "Kelli" or at times, Jade as that's the nickname I've acquired on my email address. I'm 29 years old, and I've always been a history buff. I'd say I've probably been interested in WWII since high school. I like the stories of the soldiers themselves more than anything else. I enjoy reading, writing, the occasional video game/computer game, and genealogy research. I also randomly collect state quarters and Pez dispensers. Other eras interesting to me are the Civil War and colonial eras, as well as anything regarding old England (pre-colonial days). That's due to my mother's influence-she too is a history buff! My paternal grandfather, Purl Nicholas O'Hara, served in WWII, though he didn't enlist until Apr 1945. I know little more than that about him-I didn't even realize he served until I came across his burial site. My maternal grandfather's cousin, Aaron Carol "Oran" Drake was a cook in WWII and a survivor of the Bataan Death march. I never met him, but the story was passed down in my family. According to the report I found on Ancestry, he was at the Shinjuku camp.
Welcome to the forum, kb. There is a wealth of information available, and some of the Rogues know quite a bit about finding more details. Look around and feel free to ask questions. Do you have any other information, such as branch of service, enlistment dates, etc.? They will allow us and you to find out more. Have fun.
Side note to Russo-thanks for the doc. Like I said, it's the one I've already seen but I wanted to have a copy saved anyhoo. And thanks everyone

Thanks-I already have. It's enjoyable just reading the forums. Speaking of help, I do have access to Ancestry.com, so I could probably look up a thing or two if anyone needs it.

Isn't it though? I've learned so much through there, and have been able to connect with quite a few distant cousins as well.
