So where I live, there was this very rural looking farm area off of a major road, right? Old, uniform looking buildings collapsing, dirt roads, back in the woods, but just visible enough from the road to pique my interest when I drove by it. Right down from that, a huge park with 6 soccer fields on it.
The buildings were torn down last year to make room for condos, so I never did go look at them.

Well,as it ends up, the park was just made a historic landmark in Charlotte because of the old farm that had once been there. Not that exciting of a story until I read that the fields were once harvested by German P.O.W's who were imprisoned down the road in what was then a very rural area.....
Right there, by my house,I pass by it every day to get to work.....

I know this isn't right but you could have had a look inside, might have been something inside worth taking.

A few months ago, I discovered that an old chicken farm on the outskirts of town used to be an AAA battery during WW2. I have passed the site hundreds of times without giving it any thought.

Myself and Pegasus briefly explored the site and we plan to go back, after gaining the land owners permission, to have a 'proper' look in the near future.

    Watch this space for photos...

    Hey Keystone,

if you are able to find the excact location of imprisomend, i should take a good look at that spot, maybe there are still some German writings on the walls or drawings that the prissoners made to kill time!
Also i would search the surrounding fields with a detector or the former campground because often they buried personel items during there stay on those grounds!
    Good luck!
